Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes real-life case studies and exercises where participants will be engaged in a series of interactive small groups and class workshops. This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of Certified Environmental Manager (CEM). It covers the concepts, importance and benefits of environmental management systems (EMS); the key environmental laws and regulations at the national and international levels; the three pillars of sustainability covering economic, environmental and social; the basic concepts, benefits and strategies for pollution prevention; identifying and evaluating environmental aspects and impacts; the importance and methods of engaging stakeholders in environmental management; the air quality management, water quality management, waste management and hazardous material management. During this interactive course, participants will learn the environmental auditing, emerging preparedness and response, risk assessment; and the environmental impact assessment (EIA); the impacts of climate change and strategies for carbon management; the energy efficiency and renewable energy sources; the importance of biodiversity, threats and conservation strategies; integrating environmental management into CSR initiatives; the sustainable development goals (SDGS), green building, sustainable design and renewable energy technologies; the principles, benefits and examples of circular economy models; the life cycle assessment (LCA) and strategies for reducing environmental impacts of transportation; the environmental management and change management; the effective communication and advocacy; and the proper planning, executing and monitoring environmental projects.
