Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes real-life case studies and exercises where participants will be engaged in a series of interactive small groups and class workshops. This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of security investigations and criminal evidence. It covers the investigative function, investigator status and supporting activities; conducting investigations, organizing and managing investigative units and the common causes of crimes; the types of crimes to investigate including theft, intrusion, damage, terrorism and cyber security crimes; and how the crimes are solved and the link between investigation and risk assessment. Further, the course will also discuss the reactive and proactive methods and the framework for crime investigation and analysis; the root cause analysis and root cause identification; the cause tree analysis and fact finding process; the direct and indirect causes of crime, consequences for human and organization; the role of the ?organization? in crime causation and effects; the reason?s crime causation model and the principle stages of security investigation; how to counteract investigator bias and mindset; the collection and processing of physical evidence and the nature and role of the evidence technician; the presence of physical evidence at crime scenes; and dispatching evidence collection units.

If this course is delivered online as a Virtual Training, the following limitations will be applicable

Certificates: Only soft copy certificates will be issued to participants through Haward’s Portal. This includes Wallet Card Certificates if applicable
Training Materials: Only soft copy Training Materials (PDF format) will be issued to participant through the Virtual Training Platform
Training Methodology: 80% of the program will be theory and 20% will be practical sessions, exercises, case studies, simulators or videos
Training Program: The training will be for 4 hours per day starting at 09:30 and ending at 13:30

Simulators: Only software simulators will be used in the virtual courses. Hardware simulators are not applicable and will not be used in Virtual Training
