Course Description
This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of Power Quality & Reliability. It covers the fundamentals of power quality and reliability, power quality standards and performance requirements; the AC power components and electrical system fundamentals; the power factor analysis and improvement, steady-state voltage regulation and voltage performance; the power quality monitoring, measurement and assessment; the voltage sags and short-duration voltage variations; the impact of voltage sags on sensitive equipment; the power interruptions and equipment performance, fault analysis and fault-clearing performance; the influence of fault clearing on voltage stability; and the mitigation of voltage sags and interruptions.
Further, the course will also discuss the harmonic fundamentals, waveform distortion and sources of harmonics in power systems; the effects of harmonics on electrical equipment; the harmonic measurement and analysis and harmonic mitigation techniques; the voltage unbalance, flicker and other power quality disturbances; the transient over voltages and surge phenomena; the surge arresters, protective devices, insulation coordination and transient protection; the fundamentals of power system reliability and standardized reliability indices; and calculating and interpreting reliability performance.
During this interactive course, participants will learn the power quality troubleshooting methodology and reliability-centered power system maintenance; improving electrical distribution system reliability and integrated power quality improvement solutions; and developing a power quality and reliability improvement plan.
