Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes various practical sessions and exercises. Theory learnt will be applied using our state-of-the-art simulators.

This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of Geophysical Data Analyst: Seismic Interpretation & Modeling. It covers the geophysics and seismic method, seismic wave theory and propagation and seismic data acquisition systems; the sampling, resolution and frequency content, seismic noise sources and suppression basics and metadata and seismic data formats; the seismic data conditioning, velocity analysis and stacking and multiple suppression and wavelet shaping; the migration techniques, amplitude versus offset (AVO) conditioning and processing QC and interpretation readiness; the seismic visualization and navigation, horizon picking techniques and fault and structural interpretation; and the stratigraphic and depositional interpretation, seismic attribute analysis and time-depth conversion and well calibration.

During this interactive course, participants will learn the rock physics foundations, AVO quantitative interpretation, seismic inversion techniques and geocellular model integration; the seismic-based reservoir characterization, static and dynamic reservoir model linkage and end-toend seismic interpretation workflow; the play and prospect evaluation and seismic modeling for development and production; and the common interpretation challenges and solutions covering low signal-to-noise areas, fault shadow and velocity pull-down, poor well-seismic tie and ambiguity handling techniques.
