Course Description
This practical and highly-interactive course includes various practical sessions and exercises. Theory learnt will be applied using KAPPA Software.
This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of Pressure Transient Analysis. It covers the basic reservoir engineering concepts and the types of well tests; the data acquisition in well testing, wellbore storage effects, skin effect and formation damage; the multiphase flow issues and completion and perforation influence; the candidate well selection, tool string design and economic and operational considerations; the mathematical foundations of PTA, radial flow and early-time behavior and transitional and late-time flow regimes; the skin factor and wellbore storage analysis, log-log diagnostic plots and semi-log plot analysis; the type curve basics and well test interpretation workflow; and the homogeneous reservoir analysis. During this interactive course, participants will learn the heterogeneous and dual-porosity systems and fractured well analysis; the multilayer and complex systems and pressure derivative concepts; the derivative plot interpretation, advanced boundary conditions and deconvolution techniques; the numerical and hybrid models and well test design optimization; avoiding misreading flow regimes, poor derivative quality, incorrect boundary assumptions and overfitting with complex models; linking PTA to reservoir modeling; and estimating drainage area and boundaries and pressure support evaluation.
