This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview on the Legal Essentials for the Oil & Gas. It covers the role of legal frameworks in the oil and gas industry; the legal structures in oil and gas and the international laws and treaties, national regulations and governance, contractual arrangements in oil and gas and legal risks and challenges; the exploration and licensing agreements and production sharing agreements (PSAs); and the joint operating agreements (JOAs), sales and purchase agreements and transportation and pipeline agreements. 

Further, the course will also discuss the legal obligations for decommissioning, financial provisions and trust funds; the environmental and safety requirements and dispute resolution for decommissioning liabilities; the health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations, environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and climate change laws and carbon regulations; the anti-corruption and compliance laws, local content and employment laws and dispute resolution mechanisms; the oil and gas taxation systems, types of taxes and ring-fencing principles in oil and gas taxation; and the tax incentives for exploration and production and transfer pricing issues in oil and gas.
