Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes real-life case studies and exercises where participants will be engaged in a series of interactive small groups and class workshops. Certified environmental managers often work for government agencies, environmental management firms and large corporations. Daily tasks can include developing plans for hazardous waste management and implementing plans to reduce a clients pollution emissions. They might also be responsible for ensuring an organization operates in compliance with state and federal environmental laws or overseeing the staff members tasked with carrying out environmental remediation projects and site monitoring. Environmental managers should be comfortable working in both office and outdoor environments. When conducting fieldwork, they could be expected to put in long hours and be exposed to various types of weather. These professionals generally work full time. This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview certified environment manager (CEM). It covers the key changes between ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 14001:2015; what needs to be revised in current EMS; the significance of organizational context and adopting a risk-based approach; and the application of risk-based thinking, leadership and process management. During this interactive course, participants will learn requirements in Annex SL (Appendix 2) relating to organizational context, planning and support; the stakeholder confidence by updating teams and processes in line with the latest requirements; prepare, conduct and develop the required skills for an ISO 14001:2015 audit; and building stakeholder confidence by leading and managing teams and processes in line with the latest requirements.
