Course Description
This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of maritime law and shipping contracts. It covers the definition, scope, characteristics and historical development of maritime law; the INCOTERMS, international sale and shipping contracts; the sale and shipment parties as well as INCOTERMS and allocation of risk under CIF, CFR or FOB terms; the bank issued letters of credit and MCP terms; and interconnecting with shipment contracts inclusive of voyage and time charterparties, COA’s and bills of lading.
During this interactive course, participants will learn the marine insurance aspects inclusive of cargo, P&I and H&M insurance; the key elements of shipping contracts covering definitions, contracting parties, warranties, liability, lien on the goods, collection and delivery; the payment and charges, insurance option, termination, force majeure, general – entire agreement, nature of relationship, notices, severance, jurisdiction and law; the most important contracts in the shipping industry; and the marine insurance and other maritime matters comprising of maritime collisions, salvage and general average.
