Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes real-life case studies and exercises where participants will be engaged in a series of interactive small groups and class workshops. This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of the practical approach to ship surveys. It covers the rationale of ISM code and ISM code development; the guidelines for audit on board ships including survey planning, preparation and execution; the ships particulars and certificates, ships library and IMO publications; the conditions of hull, structural integrity, mooring equipment and safe operation; the watertight openings, lighting and electrical arrangements; the cargo-worthless items covering hatch covers and cargo gear; and the engine room checklist condition and alarms. During this interactive course, participants will learn the emergency situations, safety gear, bridge equipment and navigational procedures; the global maritime distress and safety system (GMDSS); the references, records and checklist; the general conditions of accommodation including galley and stores; the standards training and certification of watchkeeping officers (STCW); the ship conventions, draft and water mark; the ship chain of command and drills; the ship communication systems; and the weather and sea condition watch responsibilities. link to course overview PDF

If this course is delivered online as a Virtual Training, the following limitations will be applicable

Certificates: Only soft copy certificates will be issued to participants through Haward’s Portal. This includes Wallet Card Certificates if applicable

Training Methodology: 80% of the program will be theory and 20% will be practical sessions, exercises, case studies, simulators or videos
Training Program: The training will be for 4 hours per day starting at 09:30 and ending at 13:30
