Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes practical sessions and demonstration where participants carryout firefighting. Theory learnt in the class will be applied using a fire extinguisher and various firefighting equipment through hands-on practical sessions. This course is designed to provide participants with a basic overview of firefighting. The aim of the course is to train personnel on the awareness and knowledge to react to a fire situation and demonstrate the skill to fight small fires. It covers the awareness on fire chemistry, how fire spreads and actions to be taken in case of fire incident; the process of combustion and the important elements involved in it; the primary and secondary actions to be taken when faced with a fire and demonstrate usage of fire extinguisher on a small controlled fire; and basic principles of the theory of combustion. During this interactive course, participants will learn other classes of fires and fire prevention measures; the use of different types of portable extinguishers; the heat transfer, sources of ignition and evacuation procedures; handling causalities by using correct lifting techniques; recognizing fixed fire protection and detection; and the basis of fire prevention measures relevant to the workplace. link to course overview PDF

If this course is delivered online as a Virtual Training, the following limitations will be applicable

Certificates: Only soft copy certificates will be issued to participants through Haward’s Portal. This includes Wallet Card Certificates if applicable
Training Materials: Only soft copy Training Materials (PDF format) will be issued to participant through the Virtual Training Platform
Training Methodology: 80% of the program will be theory and 20% will be practical sessions, exercises, case studies, simulators or videos
Training Program: The training will be for 4 hours per day starting at 09:30 and ending at 13:30

Site Visit: Not Applicable
Simulators: Only software simulators will be used in the virtual courses. Hardware simulators are not applicable and will not be used in Virtual Training
