Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes various practical sessions and exercises. Theory learnt will be applied using our state-of-the-art simulators. This course is designed to provide participants with a complete and up-to-date overview of oilfield water treatment. It covers the nature of oilfield water, water source and nature and composition of waters and seawater; the water compatibilities, scale, test methods, water quality specification and plant facilities and equipment; the control system and operating variables as well as the filtration and deaeration of basic seawater treatment; and the water depth selection, macrofouling prevention, winning pumps and chlorination. Further, the course will also discuss the types of filters covering cartridge, gravity, upflow, mixed media and rotating drum as well as the filter aids that include ferric salts, bentonite and polyelectrolyte; the chlorination, upfilter biocide treatments, gas stripping and mechanical vacuum deaeration; the chemical additives and chemical treatment in water plants; the chemical scavengers, catalysts and effect of temperature; and the interaction of chlorine and scavenger, bacterial growth and plant chlorination.
