Mr. Brian Shaw

Mr. Brian Shaw MSc, BSc, PE is a Senior Metallurgical Engineer with over 15 years of extensive experience in the industry.  His expertise mainly cover the areas of quality assurance & engineering management, maintenance safety & efficiency, steel manufacturing & process troubleshooting, materials testing & selection, metallurgical failure analysis & prevention, ultrasonic testing, quality certification audits, destruction analysis & non-destructive testingCurrently, Mr. Shaw is the Quality Control Manager for an international steel manufacturer where he provides technical support, supervise in the operations and activities related to non-destructive testing, streamlining laboratory activities, improving lab procedures, providing technical training for new employees and for customer education program. 

Earlier in his career, he has assumed important responsibilities and positions on research, process engineering, product engineering, project management, and technical personnel management. His professional experience includes stints with different industries including steel melt shops, continuous casting, ingot casting, forging, hot rolling, cold rolling, heat treating, rolled steel coatings, secondary metal processing, and machining.  Brian has worked lengthily with several international companies among which are US Steel, Finkl & Sons, the National Centre for Food Safety & Technology, and Outokumpu.


Mr. Shaw has a Masters & Bachelors Degree in Metallurgical Engineering & Engineering Management.  Further, he is Certified Instructor/Trainer and has a Certificate in International Business and is a well-regarded member of the American Society for Non-destructive Testing, North American Die Casters Association, Association for Iron and Steel Technology, the ASM International, and is a Founding Committee member of US Steel.  He is also the current President and past Vice President of Programs for the Ingot Metallurgy Forum
