Mr. Shawn Parsons


Mr. Shawn Parsons is a Senior Inspection Engineer with over 20 years of extensive experience within the Oil, Gas, Refineries, Petrochemical and Power industries. His expertise lies extensively in the areas of construction, installation fabrication, erection, inspection, maintenance, operation, rating, repair, alteration, reconstruction, pigging, integrity assessment, flaw evaluation, fitness-for-service (FFS) of Piping, Piping Inspection, Pipelines, Pressure Vessels, Vibration Analysis, Positive Material Identification (PMI), Pressure-Relieving Devices, Welding Technology, Metallurgy, Corrosion and Prevention of Failures, Mechanical Integrity Assessment, Hydro-Testing & Sensitive Leak Testing, Material Selection & Properties. He is an international expert in several codes and standards such as API, ASME, ASNT, AWS, CGSB and ABSA. He is currently the Chief Inspector of IRIS NDT that provides full engineering services including materials laboratory testing, NDE and radiography inspection.

 

Mr. Parsons has worked with numerous multi-national companies such as the TIR Canada, Aker Solutions, Metalcare, Acuren, FT Services,  Edmonton Exchanger, Melloy Industrial Services, KBR and Halliburton for major international clients including Keyera Alberta Envirofuels, Conoco Phillips, CNRL, Imperial Oil, Syncrude, Exxon Mobil, SuncorSow Chemical, Opti-Nexen and Petro-Canada as the Chief Inspector, In-Service Lead Inspector, Lead QC Inspector, QA Inspector, QA Mechanical Supervisor, QA Supervisor, QA Planner, QC Inspector and NDE Technician.

 

Mr. Parsons has a Diploma in Material Engineering Technology from The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Alberta, Canada. Further, he is a Certified Welding Inspector (AWS), Certified Visual Inspector – Level II (CWB), Certified Pressure Vessel Inspector (API-510), Certified Piping Inspector (API-570) as well as a Certified Magnetic Particle Inspection Level II (MT) and Liquid Penetrate Inspection Level II (PT) from the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB/ASNT). He is also a Certified Instructor/Trainer and a Certified Trainer for first aid, OSSA fall arrest, confined space, H2S, construction and radiation safety, field level hazard assessment (FLHA), personal gas monitoring, JLG and man-lift.
