Mr. Henry Froneman


Mr. Henry Froneman, MSc, BSc, is a Senior Welding & Fabrication Engineer with extensive experience within the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, Utilities and Construction industries. His thorough experience widely covers Welding Technology, Fabrication and Inspection, Pipe Fabrication, Metal Fabrication, Stainless Steel Fabrication, Pipeline Welding, Welding Metallurgy, Aluminium Welding, Pressure Vessels, Tanks, Heat Exchangers, Heat Treatment, Construction & Fabrication of On-Shore and Offshore Structures and Piping, Stress Calculations, NDT Inspection, Visual Welding Inspection, Ladle Furnace, Structural Welding, Welding Repair and Welding Equipments. Further, he is also well-versed in commanding the latest weld standards of AWS, GMAW, Pulsed-GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, PAW, SAW, SMAW, API RP 577 and PWHT procedures, pipe welding systems, automated welding systems, corrosion, fabrication methods and failure analysis. He is currently the Senior Welding Engineer of SASOL Technology wherein he is responsible for the evaluation of welding procedures, processes and heat treatment for the construction of pressure vessels, heat exchangers and structures.

 

During his career life, Mr. Froneman has worked with various international companies such as SASOL Technology, J.Ray McDermott Middle East Inc., and ISPAT ISCOR Steel Plant where he held key positions such as Senior Welding Engineer, Senior AWS Welding Engineer, AWS Welding Engineer, Junior Welding Engineer, QA/QC Welding Engineer, Metallurgist and Lecturer.

 

Mr. Froneman has a Master degree in Welding Engineering from Cranfield University (UK) and a Bachelor degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Furthermore, he is an active Member of the American Welding Society (AWS), ASM International, Corrosion Institute and an Industrial Member of The Welding Institute (TWI).
