Mr. John Harmse

Mr. John Harmse is a Senior Process Engineer with over 20 years of industrial experience within Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Refining industries.  He is an international expert in Process Safety, Process Equipment design, sizing, selection, applications, maintenance and troubleshooting.  His wide experience covers fired process heaters, air coolers, heat exchangers, piping, pumps, compressors, process vessels, fractionator columns, reactors and ancillary equipment. He is currently the Technical Manager of SASOL Technology where he is providing plant optimization and debottlenecking support to the Monomers, Polymers, Ammonia, MTBE, TAME plants as well as to all SASOL refineries.

During his career life, Mr. Harmse worked for world-class petroleum and petrochemical companies such as SASOL and Fluor Daniel.  He worked in several countries within North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.  During such period, he was in-charge of critical engineering and management positions such as a Project Manager, Technical Manager, Engineering Manager, Process Engineer, Project Engineer and Lead Engineer.

Mr. Harmse has a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering and Management of Technology (MOT). Further, he is an active member of several engineering associations within the USA, Europe and Africa.
